Mucus And Blood In Saliva, Sharp Pressure Sensation, Unable To Breathe Heavily. Marijuana Smoker. What Can I Do?

Hi. I am a healthy 29 year old. Never smoked cigarettes. I may have smoked a few marijuana cigarettes quite a few years back when I was in university but I'm done with that. I'm not over weight. I eat well. I exercise at least once a week. For the past 3 or 4 days, I have been feeling like I can't breathe deeply because of a weak sharp pressure... not very intense.. but it was enough to make me take lesser deep breaths. Last night, I noticed the pain was gone. I figured it was stress related because I have been working insane hours lately as a very important project is soon reaching its deadline. About 10 minutes ago, I felt like there was mucus in my mouth and when I spit it up, there was blood with my saliva.. what could this mean and should I make an appointment with my doctor immediately?

Hi,

This is highly unlikely to be related to marijuana. I suspect some kind of lung pathology, may be an infection. Just stress cannot cause expectoration of blood. So I suggest that you see a doctor and get yourself evaluated before this worsens any further. An X-ray of the chest must also be done.

Hope you get well soon.
