Dentist, Orthodontics 's  Response
HI, I have read your problem, It is not possible that after getting two and half year treatment ,teeth are not aligned with ideal age of patient. Overweight is not a problem in aligning teeth.I am suggesting you search good ORTHODONTIST for proper treatment, he or she will 100% solve your problem.Removable applaince are only given at the time of retaintion (to retain new positin of teeth). Now a days so many types of modern braces are available which are not creating any problem to patient.
all the best.

Dentist, Endodontics Dr. Manisha Rao's  Response
Hi, major part of the treatment is carried out by the fixed appliance. If the teeth are aligned, a retention appliance will hold them in place. But if the teeth are not aligned properly, there is little that the removable appliance can do. So please do not get the fixed braces removed before the teeth are corrected properly. Please consult another orthodontist. Otherwise your son may have to go through the entire process again and it will also cost you a good sum for the same procedure.

Dentist, Pedodontics Dr. Karthik Venkataragahavan's  Response
The treatment for braces depends on the severity of malocclusion the person has. the more severe the condition the more time it takes to correct.
what your doctor means by putting another clip which can be removed is to give a retention appliance which will hold the aligned teeth in place for a suitable period of time & then they can be discontinued.
