Neck Injury, Pain On Swallowing, Unable To Sleep. Pinched Nerve?
i had a pretty bad fall (riding accident) landed on my face and my neck took the brunt of the impact. Was strained a little bit but nothing too bad. It s been two weeks and its about as intense as i can manage anymore. Last night i went out to dinner and i couldn t even eat my dinner because it hurt to swallow . Almost like i have a pinched nerve kind of pain. Short but intense. Couldn t sleep last night don t know if i should be worried or not.
As of now, the injury does not seem to be serious and you need not worry. The pain is likely to be related to soft tissue injury in the neck and should improve in a few weeks.

Neck Injury, Pain On Swallowing, Unable To Sleep. Pinched Nerve?
Hi, Thank you for posting your query. As of now, the injury does not seem to be serious and you need not worry. The pain is likely to be related to soft tissue injury in the neck and should improve in a few weeks. You could take diclofenac or ibuprofen to reduce the neck pain. You should consult a doctor, if you notice any of the following symptoms: 1. Sharp, shooting pain along the arms, 2. Tingling or numbness in the arms, 3. Weakness in the arm muscles. The doctor may order a neck scan (CT or MRI) for evaluation. Wishing you good health, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
