Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My uncle had cellulitis and was hospitalized for a few days on antibiotic therapy. It's been one month and his leg is a purpleish red still, swollen, and warm. Is this still ok? He says he is feeling better but I'm a little weary that it is still warm and swollen.
Dear patient cellulitis should be completely treated by now. Fever should subside and pain should disappear. Little swelling may persist for one month and is not a matter of concern. if in doubt local ultrasound should be done to rule out collection. if it's normal you should not worry. Keep limb elevated and wear crepe bandage.
