Having brown discharge, possibly spotting mixed with vaginal discharge after hysterectomy should be considered as a condition to be evaluated. The possible causes are: - Granulation tissue at the vault - Vaginal infection - Atrophied vaginal mucosa leading to easy bruising - Rarely malignancies, etc.
Sometimes pelvic infection may present with flu like symptoms. As you are having a family history of malignancy better to get evaluated. Please consult your gynecologist, get examined and undergo ultrasound and pap smear. With this work up the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
