On And Off Dry Throat For Some Time Where I Can Hack Up Phlegm Sometimes With Blood
My throat has been dry for some time, off and on through the day, for several weeks. I can relieve that by chewing gum or suckingon a throat lozenge. Also I have a sore feeling at the back of my throat on the right side. It feels as though there is something there. I can "hack up" some phlegm, bloody sometime, often dark. What could this be?

Your symptoms suggest that you maybe having a sinus infection and i would like you to meet your ent doctor for examination and further advice. Meanwhile you can start gargling with warm salt water and avoid oily food,

I have gone through your query regarding dry throat with irritation and sometimes blood in phlegm.
According to your clinical history it appears that you are having infection in your throat may be involving the right tonsil. here I would like to suggest you these basic investigations -
1- Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.
2- Sputum for Afb and Gram's staining.
3- X-Ray paranasal sinuses.
4- X-Ray chest.
Inferences of above investigations are to be co-related with clinical findings to get the final diagnosis which may be accordingly plan for treatment.
