Hi there,
Thanks for writing in.
Do you have any history of migraine?
Any history of migraine in your family?
Do you feel your headache is related to lack of sleep, excessive exercise, direct exposure to sunlight or food intake like cheese and wine. These are normally implicated in the cause of migraine.
If your headache is normally on one side ;unilateral , throbbing in nature , associated with
vomiting, flashes of light.... most likely it could be migraine....
A tablet of
paracetamol at the start of the headache might provide symptomatic relief . If the headache persists, I would advise you to visit your doctor.
Also, it would be a good idea to get your blood pressure checked as sometimes
high BP can also present with headache and vomiting.
In the meantime.....
Sleep at the same time everyday.
Avoid wine, cheese,chocolate.
Avoid unaccustomed exertion.
Drink plenty of water... at least 8-10 glasses of water a day.
I hope I have answered your question. Please do get back to me if you have further queries.
Have a great day :)
Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
