Ovarian Scan Revealed Dermoid Cyst. What Do The Findings Imply?
Hello, My left ovary is a normal size 2.9x3.1, but the right one is enlarged 4.9x5.2. The nurse told me that I have a dermoid cyst that measures 4x4.9. I was a little confused by it. If the dermoid is a part of the ovary and the normal size of it is about 3x3, doesn't it mean that the cyst is only about 2x2 cm? How does it work? I thought that the total size of the ovary includes the ovary itself + the cyst?
Hello! The dermoid cyst is 4x4.9 and both the ovary and the cyst are 4.9x5.2 The cysts takes place of normal tissues of ovary and for this reason the normal tissue of ovary is very little (1x1). You should do an ultrasound every 6 month because a few part of dermoid cysts can transformed to cancer. take care of your self
