PAP Tests Show Presence Of Endometrial Cells. Would Ultrasound Be As Accurate As Biopsy?
I am a 42 year old female and had my annual check and PAP done about 3 weeks ago. The day before my appointment I still had some residual from the ending of my period but the nurse told me to keep my scheduled appoint. The office called me and told me that my PAP results came back showing endometrial cells. The nurse stated that this COULD be due to the fact that my period had just ended the day before but the doctor would like me to have a biopsy done. My OB/GYN said I could choose to have an ultrasound done if I did not want to go through the biopsy. Would an ultrasound be just as accurate in diagnosing if there was any kind of problem? Please advise ~ I am very concerned!!
Hi I read your query and understand your concern. The biopsy is the more accurate examination to diagnose any kind of problems. The ultrasound is done before going to biopsy to determine earlier any abnormalities as a pre-biopsy examination. Hope I answered to your query.
