PCOD. Prolonged Periods. Temporary Relief From Medicines. Suggestions?
hello ma'am,i'm 23, i got myself examined and the report shows that i have small cysts .i.e pcod..on april 2 i got my periods and the duration became longer so doctor gave me medicine to stop it then my periods stopped for 5-6 days then again my period started this process seems to be continuing..this is the first time i'm facing such a problem. i use to have irregular periods where i use to miss 2 months.i even exercise.
Hi and thanks for the query, irregular periods is a common syndrome observed in polycystic ovarian syndrome. Treatment usually used to regularize this involves prescription of hormones. These hormones might need to be taken at times for more than one cycle to obtain desired results. However, this should be under the supervision of your treating physician. I suggest you get reevaluated by your doctor. It would be appropriate too knowing if you have along the line been exposed to unprotected sex. If its the case, doing a pregnancy test could be a good thing to do. If not, getting a reevaluation and knowing that the treatment might take sometime to get the periods regularized is important.
