hello and welcome to hcm,
first of all please check whether your wisdom tooth has erupted or not.it is dependant on your age too.if the gum over the
impacted wisdom tooth is inflammed, then the pain and swelling may be associated with
pericoronitis.
if the debris and bacteria are deeply entrapped,an
abscess also may form.
pain and swelling of pericoronal tissue around the affected tooth, difficulty in chewing and difficulty in opening mouth are the usual complaints.mildly ill with fever,
malaise and regional
lymphadenopathy are the associated symptoms.
entrapped food debris must be removed.
a radiograph helps in assessing the position of involved tooth.if impacted, the tooth must be removed.if it is in a favourable position, surgical removal of pericoronal flap is done which is known as operculectomy.
administration of antibiotics helps to relieve the symptoms and prevent the spread of infection to the adjacent tissue spaces.
take care.
