Pain Behind The Knees. Unable To Straighten Legs. Advise What It Is And How To Cure It?
My daughter has been waking up in the mornings with severe pain behind both knees. We have been thinking it was growing pains, but the pain sometimes lasts through the day. She is unable to straighten her legs in the morning walks, tip toes, limps, or even crawls in the morning up to an hour or two. She will be 7 years old next month.
Is there any associated swelling also?,any fever history?.If not, then give her hot fomentation and massage with anti-inflammatory cream before rising from bed and paracetamol 325mg tab after meal at night also.If it persists for longer than a week, consult physician
The description you have provided reflects a condition known as morning stiffness which is a condition frequently seen in arthritis especially rheumatoid arthritis. The patients joints is stiff and painful in morning but the symptoms relieve after sometime. It is recommended to visit an orthopedic doctor as she may require some investigations like RA factor and x-ray of the knee joints for evaluation.
On the counter drugs like diclofenic sodium and paracetamol are very effective in such conditions.
Thanks
