Pain Between Ribs. History Of Gall Bladder Removal And IBS. Cause Of Pain?

Hi ...my life is controlled by this pain, best way to describe it would be being winded but a million times as painful. The pain is right I between my ribs and when I have an attack it feels that strog it's like it has a pulse? I would rather have go through child birth as I experienced that to be less painful....yes I'm being serious. I have had this pain since I was 19, I am now 35 this year... 3 years ago my gall blader was removed thinking to be the cause of the pain, the day after I had an attack??? My world fell apart as we thought we'd cracked the problem .. I've had every test under the sun all come back clear ....nothing, doctors have now given up and I'm still living my life in pain. An attack can last for 5 mins to an hour and a frequent as all night.... I started with symptoms of IBS in 2004 at the age of 26. However this does not take away the fact that the attacks inevitably started 7 years earlier.. I look 5 months pregnant permanently. After Specialists saying they don't know what it is I have done copious amounts of research and found a condition that was identical to my symptoms.. it was called SOD, when I told my specialist he laughed at me saying this was very rare?? As I see it there IS something wrong, and there has to be SOMETHING causing my pain? I feel lost and alone with this... I've had 4 attacks today, one when I was driving ... This is ruining my life... I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions that would help... Many thanks Michelle x

Hello, Put ice on the injured area.
Get extra rest.
Take pain medicine such as aspirin or ibuprofen. Your doctor may prescribe a stronger pain medicine if over-the-counter medicines don't work.
While you are healing, it is important to cough or take the deepest breath you can at least once an hour. This can help prevent pneumonia or a partial collapse of the lung tissue.

If you have fractured your ribs and you have not injured your neck or back, it is a good idea to lie on your injured side. This may seem odd at first, but it will let you take deeper breaths.

In the past, it was common to tape or tightly wrap the injured rib area. But you should not do this, even if it eases your pain. It can keep you from taking deep breaths, and it could cause parts of your lung to collapse or could increase your risk for pneumonia.
