Pain, Discoloration And Swelling Of The Vein In Inner Wrist After Clipping Hedges. No Burning. Reduced Swelling With Ice. Serious?

I was working in the yard, clipping hedges, and felt something funny in/on my inner wrist (palm side of hand). I looked and saw that my vein in my wrist was very swollen and discolored (dark blue). It doesn't feel like an insect sting or bite (no burning) but it's starting to ache. I just put ice on it and the swelling seems to be reducing. Should I be worried about anything more serious than a strain/sprain?

Hello,
Thanks for writing.
If you are not used to holding the clipper for a long time, it can cause temporary local muscle spasm and then there is little discomfort.
The bluis vein is perfectly normal to be seen and not a cause for worry.
You may feel better by taking regular breaks of 5 minutes after every 30 minutes of clipping. This will tire you less.
Hope this helps.
