Pain In Lower Molar Due To Abscess. Bruise On Neck Below Jaw. Urgent Treatment Required?
My dentist told me a few months ago that there seems to be a possible abscess with my lower molar. I don t have insurance so we were going to watch it since there wasn t any associated pain. A couple of days ago I had some pain in my lower jaw so I m going into the dentist to do a follow up xray next week. The pain is gone but tonight I noticed bruising on my neck towards the front below the area on my jaw where the pain was. The bruise is about 3 inches long about 1/2 inche wide, not solid more like a bite mark, it looks like a hicky. Is it something that can wait until morning for my dentist to check?? Thank you, Joy
hi there
as per your symptoms it seem to my belief you are mingling two different problem, must be a chance you have abscess right down under your question tooth which will require a ROOT CANAL TREATMENT.
your other problem which is a mark kind could be some insect bite or allergy, but for exact diagnosis could only be made with physical examination to rule out the possibility causing the discoloration of the skin.
see a dentist soon , delay your appointment until you can bear the pain.
start with warm saline (half cup luke warm water+ half tbs salt)rinses at night , it helps in drainage of pus in the abscess .
thanx
regards
Hello there....untreated abscess of the lower molar teeth usually end up in sub mandibular space infection....as the infection sets in the lower part of the jaw over the neck tends to appear erythematous...not a good sign as that may increase and result in swelling...never apply any topical balms or hot fomentation...that would result in an increased swelling....the treatment options are root canal treatment for the abscessed tooth or extraction of the same...Clinical examination is required for further evaluation and management....
Hello,
If you can’t take dental help due to financial problems or some other problem, then you can do warm saline rinses and can use clove or clove oil for some temporary relief. Ibuprofen, motrin, acetaminophen pain meds can be used . Mouth washes and peroxide flushes will also provide some relief . Antibiotics can also be taken for temporary relief of abscess.
