Today we got the reports here in the results Impression is :-At C2-C3,C3-C4 mild disc bulge causing thecal sac indentation At C4-C5,C5-C6 diffuse disc bulge causing thecal sac indentation. I request you to kindly tell me what is the real problem causes and solution. my mother age is 41yr Thanks & Regards Shrikanth
The neck consists of 7 small bones arranged on top of each other, this is known as the cervical spine. These small bones are separated from each other by spongy material known as discs which are located in between them. Within the bones, at the rear side, there is the spinal cord which passes through. Nerve roots leave the spinal cord through gaps in between the bones.
Now, due to aging and degenerative processes, the bones loose shape and the discs also loose get pushes on all sides (more in backward direction). This causes pressure on the nerve roots and the spinal cord.
This is what is exactly happening with your mother. The problem is more at levels C4 C5 and C5 C6. It is lesser at C2 C3 and C3 C4 levels.
The solution is physiotherapy in early stages. If the pain is severe, the problematic disc can be removed by a small surgery.
Hope this helps.
