Pain In The Lower Abdomen. Pregnant. Ultrasound Shows Gestational Sac With No Fetal Pole. What Does It Mean?
HELLO i went in to the emergency room due to pain in lower abdomen. found out i was pregnant but not sure exactly what the report means it states as follows:
**1st Trimester: An intrauterine gestational sac is seen. No fetal pole, yolk sac or cardiac motion is identified. Hypechoic area seen within the endometrium 5*4*3mm. ? gestation sac.
And my hcg levels was at 1297.. could you possibly tell me what this means and approx how far along i am? thank you
The ultrasound says, that you have a gestational sac. But the fetal pole and yolk sac that should be normally visualised is missing. The corresponding serum hCG should be around 1500miu/ml.
A serial serum hCG monitoring showing an increasing trend indicates an alive embryo. A repeat ultrasound after 2 weeks can differentiate an alive pregnancy and a missed abortion.
