Pain In The Rib Cage After A Fall. Difficulty While Moving. Recovery?
i flipped over a four foot fence and landed flat on my back. i was shaken but able to walk away without feeling hurt. in the morning, i awoke with my lower right side just below the rib cage hurting when i moved, but i was able to tolerate it. the pain increased over the next couple of days, such that it hurt when i coughed and sneezed, and it became very difficult to get in and out of the car and in and out of bed. what do you suggest?
The history of pain in lower side of the chest after trauma suggests a muscular pain. You can take rest for some time, hot fomentation, pain killers and muscle relaxants for the pain.
The aggravation of the pain associated with coughing and sneezing suggests that the muscle injured is attached to the rib cage. Any movement of the rib cage is increasing the pain.
It is advisable to consult your doctor to get a X-ray chest done. The X-ray will rule out any air collection or fluid collection in the pleural cavity. An injury to the chest can cause pleural injury and air or fluid collection. If present, it can be managed appropriately.
