Pain In The Stomach And Back, Rashes. Is This Herpes?
Hi! this is Rashmi. Four days back my mom, started feeling a bit uneasy and had a kind of pain on her stomach and back, near the spine . Now blisters and rashes have appeared at the very place where she had the pain. Can this in any way be the symptom of harpies . If yes, do tell me everything about the disease and its cure and the precaution to be taken. She is 45yrs of age and the condition is getting worst.
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
With the available described symptoms, there appears to be high chance of herpes zoster caused by "Varicella Zoster" virus.
This virus is also responsible for causing chicken pox in childhood and at times during adult age.
You should consult with dermatologist/ internal medicine specialist and should go for thorough check up.
These viral infection has life span of 3-5 days and during this period, lesions starts recovering with formation of scab.
At times, pain may persist even after all measures.
She should take antiviral medication and apply antiviral ointment along with steroids.
As such no precaution is required as the virus remains in dormant condition in nerve fibres.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
