Pain In The Wrist. Not Able To Lift Weights. What To Do?

i am got fever 2 years back and i got joint pain in the wrist ,doctor advised total rest but after one week when pain was little i joint gym and started weightlifting . pain again started , i stoped when pain was unbearable .from till there is a pain in the wrist .i want to start weight lifting again but now its my dream plz help i am very much disturb.
