Pain Under Ribs On Right Side. Stomach Scan Normal. Liver Test Done. Treatment?
My Alt is 129 and my Ast is 77. My Bilrubin was .6. I do have pains under my ribs often on the right side. I did have a scan of my complete stomach back about 10 months ago and it showed nothing. Do you think this could be a real bad thing? I do have a doctors appointment in two weeks. What do you think they should do next to figure out whats going on?
Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic!
The information you have provided is not adequate.
Are these liver tests done recently?
The ALT level is more than 3 times the upper limit of normal and AST nearly two times the upper limit of normal which are quite significant.
Is your bilirubin level 6 or 0.6 ( your post is not clear)?
The most common cause of raised liver enzymes with ALT more than AST is fatty liver disease.
Sometimes it can be due to intake of liver toxic medications ( details about medications not provided in your post). Viral infections should also be ruled out.
