Painful Bartholin Cyst Remains Uncured After Taking Augmentin And Mucinex. How To Alleviate The Pain?

Hi Dr Samuel. I have been diagnosed a Bartholin Cyst. And I am carrying this curse for 15 days today.. Marzupialization is not an option for me as I am determine to treat naturally.. Currently I am doing only sitz bath with Epson salt and at times with tea tree oil with it. I was given Augmentin antibiotics on 5/11 for 5/7 days. The cyst did not turn to abscess thanks to the antibiotic.. but it didn't reduce in size either.. After completion of eating antibiotics on the 5th day, I took Mucinex OTC medication along with Arcoxia 60mg (painkiller) in hope to reduce the cyst.. It is now the 8th day, and still no changes.. Many swear by Mucinex - to help with thinning and loosen mucus but I feel no changes with my cyst.. Pain is bearable although sitting and walking can be rather uncomfortable! I have ordered Super Silica Complex through ebay, another treatment recommended by many BC patients.. What else can I do doc to alleviate the pain? THis is my first BC experience and I am just lost! Thanks doc! :)

Hello ma'am and welcome.

You are lucky the cyst did not turn to an abscess, but as the cyst is still present and you are not on antibiotics, we should still worry about a possible abscess.

Aa for the pain, pain killers are usually not advised for conditions which have an effective treatment, I do not understand why you wish not to go ahead with marsupalization, as it is effective and will almost immediately relieve you of your pain and other symptoms.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
