Painful Lump Like Feeling In Anal Area, Continued Fart Smell When Forcing Bowel Movement Or Otherwise. Possible Hemorrhoids?

Hi. I've had a smell issue for 3 years now - based on people's comments, it's a "crap" or "fart" smell, to put it nicely. For most of the time I've had it, I didn't actually smell it myself, but lately I have quite often and I know when I'm smelling it, it must be pretty bad. I currently have a painful lump-like feeling in my anal area, which I assume to be a hemorrhoid. My question is; can hemorrhoids cause you to smell like the aforementioned smells? I seem to get them when I force a bowel movement or perhaps when I use this particular soap. But, the smell issue has been present long before I experienced any hemorrhoids, so I'm not sure that would be the source of the problem even if they do cause an odor.
