Pap Smear Tested Positive For HPV, Infection, Blood Mixed With Mucus. Treatment?
I had a Pap smear that tested positive for HPV and pap was abnormal then my gyn did a biopsy. The biopsy came back cancer free but had an infection. 6 months later I got another pap but it came back abnormal but this time without HPV. My gyn wants to do another biopsy. I'm wondering what to do because now I just went off my period and I keep finding blood in my panties and when I wipe I find blood mixed with mucus. I don't want to keep getting biopsies. What do you suggest I do?
Hi!
welcome to HCM!
Since your pap was reported abnormal even after clearing of infection then a colposcopy and if required biopsy can be repeated.
The best time to have cervical screening is between 10 and 20 days after the first day of your last menstrual period. A woman should not have cervical screening when she is menstruating. For about 2 days before the test, avoid sexual intercourse, douching, or using vaginal medicines , foams, creams, or jellies (except as directed by a doctor) because they may wash away or hide abnormal cells.
hope this will help you!take care!
