Hi Doc, I just did a pelvic scan and I received the result below. Do I have any thing to worry about? Pelvic Scan Report; an empty, non bulky retroverted uterus with homogeneous myometrical echotexture measuring about 66mm x 50mm x 40mm in L x AP x T dimension. No uterine fibroid seen. There is normal endometrial plate. The adnaxae and pouch of Douglas are free. Both ovaries appears mormal in size and structure. Comment: non grarid retroverted uterus. Non fibroid uterus. Free pouch of Douglas
Hi and welcome to HCM.
A retroverted uterus means the uterus is tipped backwards iinstead of forward towards the belly. This is commonly found in many women and they may experience symptoms including painful sex but it doesn't interfere with pregnancy.
Non fiborid means that there are no tumout masses such as myoma which is the most common benign uterine tumour. Pouch of douglas is space between uterus and rectum and if there is fluid it can be sign of infection, abscess or ascites formation Free pouch means that there are no such fluids and that you are health.WIsh you good health.
You have described an absolutely normal ultrasound report. The size of the uterus is wihtin normal limits and ther appears to be no uterine or adnexal pathology.
However, if you are very symptomatic for some pelvic disease (eg: lower abdominal pain, heavy menses, etc), you may need to consult a gynaecologist for further evaluation.
Your pelvic scan reveals that the uterus is retroverted in position. Normal position of the uterus is anteverted.
Uterine cavity is lined by normal endometrium. The myometrium is hypertrophied and hyperplasti (enlarged). However, no growth or proliferation is seen in the myometrium.
The ovaries are within normal limits and pouch od Doughlas is free of fluid collection.
Pouch of Doughlas is the pouch formed between uterus and urinary bladder. It is filled during ovulation and during inlections.
Thus, the pelvic organs are within normal limits on pelvic scan.
That is NORMAL...
You don't have to worry about anything.
You have not stated the reason for the scan - whatever it is, the result will not influence the decision making - in diagnosis or management.
Tests are at times done to rule out not rule in a problem
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
