Periods Late, Having Purple Spider Veins Around Nipples With Occasional Cramps And Back Pain. Can Perimenopause Cause Negative HPT?

My period is 8 days late. I have small purple spider veins in my breasts around my nipples, I have had a few instances of light cramping and have had lower back pain - sometimes constants, sometimes stabbing pains. I am 43 years old. Been trying to get pregnant but am worried that it's peri menopause due to the negative HPT

Hi and thanks for the query,
The commonest cause of delayed periods is usually a pregnancy and must be carefully evaluated for and excluded. You are right by suspecting perimenopause. It is not rare to experience such abnormalities in cycle when menopause is around. However, other symptoms like sweating, alterations in heat and cold should also be noted. Your GP could be of much help. Kind regards
