Popping Sensation In Knee, Painful, Swelling, Tenderness, No Bruises. What May Have Happened?

While walking to work this morning, I felt and hear a "pop" in my knee. There was minimal pain. Later in the day my knee and lower leg started to swell. The pain is still minimal unless I kneel, stoop or pivot. My lower leg and knee are still swollen. There is tenderness when I touch the outside of my knee. Haven't noticed any bruising.
