Hi there! Welcome to H.CM. forum.

H. Pylori is a common microbial organism that resides in upto 50% of the entire population. Once treated properly, the chances of recurrence are slight, upto 15% or so. However, certain measures can be taken to prevent recurrences, such as, avoiding smoking, alcohol, stress, maintaining a hygienic environment and also handling food and water with uncontaminated hands etc. Yes, it has been proven to be contagious, but in the vast majority , the infection can be successfully contained with appropriate treatment, and also the above said measures. H.Pylori is said to be transmitted via oral and fecal routes, so hygiene is an absolute must. There are very slight chances of H. Pylori being the precursors of gastric cancer, if treated adequately.

Good luck!
