Possible Upper Right Back Rib Fracture. Took Advil. Put Heating Pad. Painful. Anything To Worry?
I think I might have a upper right back rib fracture or hairline fracture. I went to Physcial therapy for my back last thur. and the therapist was pressing on my ribs and spine real hard, The pain started Saturday. I have been taking Advil and putting the heating pad on. Should I do anything else? I have arthritis in my spine and back. mime 67 years old. I'm in contant pain specially when I move around.
Hello, Thanks for writing in. As you have said, you suffer from arthritis in your spine and ase 67 years of age. You went for physiotheraphy for your back and pain started 3 days later. It is very unlikely that you have a rib fracture (even a hairline one). Most likely you have spasm of your back muscles. Please take adequate rest and apply some muscle relaxant gently over the region. Hope this helps.
