Pregnant. Sore, Red Skin Around Anus. Applied Soothing Cream, Used Lavender Oil. What Is The Cause Of It?

I am a day away from being 38 weeks pregnant and I have noticed over that last few days the skin around my anus is quite sore and red. Usually after a day or two of using a soothing cream it clears up, but it has not on this occasion. I have also in the past used lavender oil in the bath water and that has also helped soothe the area. What is causing the redness and how can I fix it?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Sometimes in pregnancy constipation can be seen.
Straining due to constipation can lead to skin damage around the anus and possibly that may be causing the problem.
Anyhow better to consult gynecologist once and get examined as during episiotomy skin incision may extend into that place.
If there is any possibility of infection, you go for local antibiotic cream there with your doctor's advice.

Take care.
