Pregnant, Have A Unilocular Cyst On Right Ovary. Can Cyst Be Removed During Delivery Or In Pregnancy?
Hi! 15 wks. Pregnant and i have a unilocular cyts on my right ovary, my left ovary was surgically removed due to dermoid cyst in 1998. My doctor told me that the csyt needs to be removed because of its size and twisting, torsion moght happen, my question is can the surgery be done on my delivery or badly needed to remove during my pregnancy and aspiration needle or hystectomy is the best treament for this?
Hello Thanks for your query. Please let me know the exact ultrasound details on - http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-aarti-abraham/64623 The size and nature of the cyst matters, only then would I be able to opine whether it needs to be surgically removed. There is no question of a hysterectomy, during pregnancy or at delivery due to huge attendant risks. THe cyst can be logically removed during delivery, if delivery is surgically planned via a C section. Whether it is badly required to remove it during pregnancy, I can only say once I know the details I have requested for. If surgery IS really indicated, it is quite safe, and can be done in the second trimester with minimal risks to the baby and to you. All the best. Take care.
