Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
You seem to have moderate to severe grade of acne, which can potentially lead to scaring. Treatment of acne is guided by the severity of acne and moreover since acne can last for years and can reform if you are completely off treatment, therefore it is usually recommended to be on a maintenance regimen even when your acne is under control, till at a particular age when tendency for forming new acne dies down. Topical retinoids are mainly used for maintenance of improvement because they are comedolytic and antiinflammatory.
Treatment of active Acne mainly revolves around Topical antibiotics like clindamycin/
nadifloxacin, Topical
benzoyl peroxide and Topical retinoids.
Oral treatment of Acne includes Antibacterials like Doxycycline,
Minocycline,
Azithromycin and oral retinoids e.g
isotretinoin.
Oral retinoids are reserved for the most severe and treatment resistant acne.
Laser and
Dermaroller are for correction of acne scaring, they won't have any effect on acne as such. Moreover, once your acne is under good control only then you should go for acne scar treatment with either Laser or Dermaroller, because unless and until your acne is not properly controlled you may again reform acne which can further lead to scaring.
Regarding the sittings for Laser/Dermaroller, it actually depends on the severity of scaring. Normally 3-4 sittings would bring about a significant improvement in acne scars. Cost would vary from doctor to doctor but that can be negotiated with the doctor once you are convinced about the most appropriate method for your kind of acne scars.
I would suggest that you seek an appointment with your
dermatologist regarding the treatment that is most suited for your kind of acne and later once your acne is under control you may go for either Laser or Dermaroller for acne scars.
