Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother had quintuple bypass in 2010 and she has burning pains around her scare especailly at night. Sometimes it is so bad it keeps her up at night. That area is very sensitive to the touch. When clothes rub she is almost in tears it hurts and burns so bad. The burning is not on top of her chest it is inside her skin . She also wakes up some mornings feeling like she slept with a brick on her chest all night. Her chest feels heavy and hurts. It has been 1 1/2 yrs since her surgery , I would think she would be healed by nnow. Why does she continue to have these issues.
Hi I feel sad about her condition, as it is most probably because of a hypertrophid scar or keloid. Though A clinical examination is necessary. These two things are problems that occur after the wound has healed excessively. As you described the location its the common site of the wound healing going bad. It will subside as the time progresses. There are few things that can be tried to prevent pain and sensitivity. Steroid injections at the site and other topical creams should help. Hope you find my suggestion helpful. Please feel free to ask any further quarries Thanking you Dr Samir
