Hello - I was diagnosed with TB in December 2010. I have been on a combination of 4-5 different antibiotics (eg Rifadin) for nearly 4 months. I had an MRI done in Dec and just recently over a week ago had another MRI but it doesn't look like there has been any improvement. I don't have any other symptoms (lungs clear, no fever etc) apart from back pain in T10/T11. What is the possible next course of action? If there has been no improvement after 3-4 months, is surgery the next answer? (Age: 58, height: 168 cm, weight: 70kgs) Please let me know.
Hello In December 2010 , you diagnosed tuberculosis and took treatment ( anti tubercular treatment or A T T ) , just for 4 months , again MR I and no improvement but in December ( next i.e 2011 ) , no improvement , it means you didn't take a complete course of A T T ? What was the reason ? You mentioned that there are no other symptoms like lungs infection or fever . Your history of illness and query is very AMBIGUOUS , so please mention whether is was pulmonary tuberculosis or EXTRA pulmonary tuberculosis ( in bones i.e. T10/T11). After complete diagnosis , we will be able to answer , it is a case of surgery or medicine. Good luck.
