Recurrent Shingles, Lump In Armpit. Enlarged And Painful Shingles. Related Conditions?
hi, for the last twelve months I have been getting shingles every three to four months. About 1 year prior to my first bout of shingles i found a hard pea sized lump under my arm pit and one between my ribs. Now when i get shingles these become enlarged and very painful. I am 36 years old and otherwise in good health. Are these two conditions usually related??
Hi jennie ,
Thanks for writing in.
Herpes zoster or shingales is a viral infection. It is caused by varicellazoster virus.
It causes pain in dermatomal lesions. And even after healing of cutaneous lesions it may cause pain.
The lump you found out is an independent finding and has nothing to do with the shingales.
Both are separate and these are not related.
A visit to dermatologist will confirm the diagnosis and help in prescription medications.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
