Reddish, Painful Spots On Lower Back, Neck Pain From Chin To Chest. What Should Be Done?
My 5 year old daughter has 2 reddish spots on her lower back along her spine . She complains that her back hurts and when I touch the spots she says it hurts. She is also complaining that her neck hurts and when I make her touch her chin to her chest she says it hurts her back. She has no fever and is otherwise acting normal. What should I do?
The presence of reddish spots on the lower back which hurt on touching can be due to a number of causes. What does the lesion look like? Is it raised or flat? A raised lesion raises the possibility of boil, folliculitis, or some insect bite. A clinical examination is required. However, don;t touch the lesion repeatedly as it can cause infection of the lesion. A pain in the back on making the chin touch her chest can be due to the stretching causing the pain. If the lesion is due to infection, antibiotic needs to be taken. However, clinical examination is needs to be done before starting any treatment.
