Regular Headaches, Some Unbearable. Staying Away From Loud Noise, Bright Lights. Cause?
I'm a sixteen year old girl and have just started sixthform. For a few weeks I have been having headaches. Some aren't that painful while others can be unbearable. I usually get one headache a day. I don't know why they are happening all of a sudden. I'm staying away from loud noises and bright lights but I still keep getting headaches.
Headache in adolescent age can occur due to following reasons-
- Migraine is a common reason behind headache. Sudden onset episodic type of headache which is fronto-temporal and is of throbbing type. The headache get aggravated with loud noise or sunlight. It is associated with nausea and vomiting. - Other possibility is tension type headache. This is a dull aching type of headache mainly in occipital region. Although it is not so severe in severity but still it can cause significant distress. - Other possibility is headache arising due to some vision problems. Visit an Ophthalmologist for evaluation of any refractive errors. - Sinusitis or chronic nasal infection may also result in such type of symptoms.

Hi, This is Dr Nanda, headache can be due to many reasons ,considering your age ,first and foremost I would suggest you to check your eye sight,other than that,life style can be the major culprit .At this age you need proper nutrition,right physical activitiy and right amount of sleep is required. As far as reading and studies concern,make sure the light is adequate and falls in proper direction.Deciplining yourself with proper diet,exercises and relaxation not only improove your overall health but also enhances your concetration.Regular eye exercises will help a great deal .Take care
