Repeated Episode Of Sudden Sharp Pains In Chest, Back Near Shoulder, Difficulty In Lifting Arm. Cause?

I am 46 years old and this is the second time this has happened in two weeks that I just all of a sudden get a sharp pain like a cutting feeling in my left chest and a sharp pain in my back up near my shoulder kind of in the middle, this time since it happened the pain just went away in my chest but it still hurts in my shoulder area. It hurts to lift that arm now. What could this be going on?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

I would advise you to visit your physician as soon as possible. It is possible that you might be having angina which is a symptom of a coronary artery disease.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
