Hi,
Thank you for the detailed history.
It appears that you are having multiple fibroids in the uterus. These are common non cancerous tumors that most likely occur due to high levels of estrogen hormone.
The
ovarian cyst is small and such cysts are an incidental finding on
sonography. As a clinician I am not worried about the cyst unless it is more than 5cm large. Your cyst is only 1.7 cm. So you must not worry about it as most of them disappear on their own.
The size of the
nabothian cyst is not mentioned. They are non cancerous and occur due to blocking of the opening of the gland in cervix. They too do not usually need treatment.
So the only concern are the fibroids that are increasing the size of the uterus. Usually they cause heavy bleeding during periods, pain or press nearby organs like the intestines and bladder and irritate them. This leads to increased frequency of urination or altered bowel movements and bloating.
The fibroids may disappear by themselves or decrease in size after
menopause. But since your fibroids are already causing symptoms, you need to treat them.
Now about
uterine cancer.
The cause of uterine cancer and fibroids both is believed to be high estrogen. So when any women with fibroids comes to my clinic, I usually do an
endometrial biopsy [take a piece of endometrium and have it examined under microscope for abnormalities] so as to be sure that there is no associated cancer. The chance of a woman actually having cancer is very less, but still if it is present, it changes the treatment. So this is an essential step.
So I suggest that you visit a gynecologist and discuss all these issues with her. You will most probably need a surgery for the fibroids after ruling out uterine cancer. I would also suggest an
ultrasound of the abdomen to look for other causes of bloating and nausea. Do not worry about the cancer test as this is a part of routine workup of fibroid patients and does not mean that you are at very high risk.
I understand that the answer is a pretty long one but I thought this was needed to satisfy all your queries.
Hope you find it useful. Feel free to ask any further queries that you may have. Thanks for using HCM.
