Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Your persistent fever is unlikely to be related to wysolone tapering.

The level of tapering depends on what disease or illness is being treated, the dosage that was given, how long the prednisone has been taken and how often it was administered to the patient.

If your are consuming 20 mg/day, taper down in increments of 2.5 mg every four weeks, and when the dosage gets down to 10 mg per day, tapering in 1 to 2 mg every four weeks is best.

If at any time during this tapering period, the patient experiences a flare up of the disease, the treatment needs to start over again.

Tapering off of wysolone is best done under a doctor's care and supervision.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
