Severe Pain In Calf Usually In Sitting Position. Healthy Lifestyle, No History Of Any Injury. Thoughts?

I have experienced calf pain 9for several months now) which usually starts when I am in a sitting position for a short time, it increases in intensity until I move or occasionally it willsubside on its own. If I am able to get up and move about it eases but often comes back when I sit down again. It hasn't bothered me at night and it has only recently started to bother me when I exercise (pain comes on with certain movements, such as a stepping up movement). I have had a scan to rule out DVT but have not returned to my GP yet, it is still problematic. I am usually quite active and attend 2-4 exercise classes per week and have done for a number of years, I have no recall of any injury.

Hello dear,

In the absence of any history of wear & tear or injury, calf pain can be due to:

1. Deficiency of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Vitamin D, Calcium, etc. which interferes with blood formation & nerve conduction.
2. Decrease in blood sugar levels (Hypoglycemia)
3. Hormonal imbalance like Hypothyroidism.
4. Lack of adequate hydration, proper nutrition & good sleep.
5. Even emotional factors like stress/tension can lead to such symptoms.

So, kindly consult your GP & get a proper clinical examination done.
Take care.
