Unfortunately, without more information and an examination it isn t possible to identify the cause of your discomfort, as groin pain can stem from a number of conditions: muscle or tendon injuries, avulsion or stress fractures of the hip or pelvis, osteoarthritis of the hip, and ilioinguinal nerve entrapment (more common in men who have had inguinal hernia repairs) are among the possibilities. If rotating your hip makes the pain worse, this suggests a problem within the hip itself. If standing up straight aggravates the pain, you could be suffering from ilioinguinal nerve entrapment. In any event, your symptoms are severe enough to warrant a medical evaluation. If you haven t seen your doctor since you posted your question yesterday, I suggest you do so as soon as possible. In the meantime, try an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication, such as ibuprofen or naproxen, for your pain. I hope things work out!
