Severe Sore Throat, Painful. Diagnosed As Strep Throat, Taking Antibiotics. Suggestions?
hi. i woke up sunday morning with a severe sore throat.it was only on my right side of my throat. i went to the doctor and i came back positive for strep throat. ive been taking my antibiotics like i was told, but now it hurts to open my mouth the slightest bit to eat or drink. its pretty painful. and now i can feel the left side of my throat getting really sore. could there be something else wrong?
Acute streptococcal pharyngitis should resolve in 7 - 10 days with proper medications. Along with antibiotics, do take a pain killer and use lozenges. Also, do not forget to gargle - if you have not been prescribed any gargle solution, add salt to warm water and gargle.
If is it extremely painful and the above methods do not help, do visit the doctor.

Sreenivasan
