Hello and welcome,

Thanks for posting your query.

Sharp pain above your left ear may be due to-

TMJ dislocation.
Wisdom tooth impaction.
Ear infection.
I would suggest you to visit an oral-maxillofacial surgeon.
An x-ray will help to rule out the cause for pain.
If wisdom tooth is impacted,it has to be extracted or flap overlying tooth has to be removed.

also check for tmj dislocation.
hope this helps

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query,
The location of your pain is indicitive of a few things. Of course, ear infections can cause this type of pain...pain that feels like it is in the ear canal, behind the ear, jaw, etc. An outer ear infection is a likely cause. You don't actually have to be a swimmer to have swimmer's ear. Any moisture left in the ear can cause this (such as a shower or bath). Also, you didn't mention if you have had your wisdom teeth removed or not, but this can cause jaw pain and pain behind the ear that will feel as though it is radiating. There is also a condition called Mastoiditis. This is an infection of the bone behind the ear, or from an enlarged lymph node. Mastoiditis is a bacterial infection of the mastoid air cells (small, air-filled cavities located in the mastoid process, which is the bulge in the skull behind the ear). This is something you will definitely need to see your Dr about.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

wisdom teeth causes sharp shooting pain upon infection.

In my view, you must visit your dentist, and get a x ray done.

This will show you the exact location of third molar.based upon x ray finding your dentist can plan the surgery of third molar.

Meanwhile upon consultation, you can start with antibiotics and analgesics. Also do warm saline rinses frequently.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care.
