I've had sharp pain in my left shin for almost 2 years. At first I was diagnosed with shin splints. Cutting back on my activity seemed to help and when I was cleared by the doctor, I went back to my usual activity. 6 months later, the pain was worse than before, I was crying while I ran. I was on minimal mobility (try not to walk at all) for most of the past year. When my doctor again thought I had healed, I went back to my usual (running, skating, biking). After about a month the pain was back to the crying stage again. The pain is only in one small spot on my shin, maybe a dime sized diameter. The pain doesnt radiate up/down my leg, but across the bone laterally. When pressed, it feels like an electric shock is going through my body. I've been put on minimal mobility and now I have been on crutches for 2 months. The electric shock pain is still there during my exams. I've been told for months that it is a stress fracture, but the look on my orthopedists face tells me that he isnt quite sure. Should I be more worried that its more than a simple stress fracture?
