Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took a hard knock to my left shin 12 days ago. An hour after the knock while walking my left leg buckled under me & I landed on a heap on the sidewalk. It was as if something had snapped or popped on the outside upper calf. I could not put full weight on the leg for 3 days. No bruising or swelling apart from shin area. Still tender when pressing just below & behind knee , nagging ache 24/7 & tight feeling. Is this connected with the shin blow & is it muscle damage?
Hi,
This could be either a snapped tendon behind your knee, a meniscal injury or a muscle tear. For first aid, get some analgesics and give rest to your knee. You need to visit an Orthopaedician for diagnosis of the problem as there are a lot of causes of pain around the knee with snapping.
