Shingles, Pain In Arm, Neck, Pinched Nerve. Elevated Sed Rate Due To Shingles?
My gf just informed me that her father has a sed rate of 112. He also had shingles within the past month. her father is 81. His arm and neck hurt badly. What do you believe the cause to be ? I understand the doctor said he has a pinched nerve concerning the pain. Can someone have a elevated sed rate, that high, from a recent bout of shingles ??

Shingles is a virus infection and can raise the Erythrocyte sedimentation Rate (ESR);
It is a non-specific parameter - it does not tell of cause, but useful in following up the progress.
A value above 100 is rather high. In view of his age, it may need more work-up, especially if it does not slow down in a week.
