Short Femur Bone. Could It Be The Reason For Short Height?
My 9 year old son is in the 10th percentile for height/weight. The first few years of his life, he was in the 75th percentile, but over time, he went down to the 50th and finally the 10th percentile. I do remember from his ultrasound at around 39-40 weeks that the OB Gyn told me that his femur bone looked short (like a 35 week baby). When I asked him does that mean he will be short, he didn t seem to really know for sure. Is this an indicator that he will be short? I didn t worry about it much until the last year when I really started to see the height differences among his peers. Thank you, Melissa

Short Femur Bone. Could It Be The Reason For Short Height?
Hello melissa, Thanks for posting your query It might be cong. short femur. But as you stated that persentile for height/weight decreases as your chlid grows, so it may be a nutritional cause. So you have to visit an paediatric orthopaedic surgeon for clinical evaluation of the child. Regards.
