Should I Be Concerned About Cancer As I Am Having A Complex Cyst On My Right Ovary?

I have a complex cyst on my right ovary that has doubled in size in four months to 4.5cm and my doctor has been very urgent about getting ultrasounds and ca125 blood test done. The white blood cell count has come back as high. Should I be concerned about cancer?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Firstly please mention your age.
you should be relieved by the following statement - Most complex cysts are NOT cancers.
Even if the size has doubled, still, most cysts less than 5 cm have less chances of being cancerous.
Can you please upload the ultrasound/ MRI scan image, that would help to form a better diagnosis ?
Also, without detailed scans and the CA 125 levels, it becomes impossible to comment on the nature of the cyst.
Complex cysts can be haemorrhagic cysts, endometriotic cysts, dermoid cysts or simply infective cysts.
The white blood cell count being high is not a pointer for malignancy.
it is a non specific marker that could be elevated for various reasons.
You need to have intensive workup and the blood work, and then write back with the results.
Just now, the data are insufficient to opine conclusively.
All the best
Take care.
