I currently take 0.050 synthroid. the doc has checked my level through blood work and says my range is good. but I still can not lose weight and I still feel drained. I am 46. I was on 0.025 was having few to no menstrual cycles. now its none. she said I am starting to go through menopause. too many questions!!!!!
Hi and welcome to HCM. Synthroid (levothyroxine) is a replacement for a hormone normally produced by your thyroid gland to regulate the body's energy and metabolism. Synthroid should not be used to treat obesity or weight problems. Dangerous side effects or death can occur from the misuse of Synthroid, especially if you are taking any other weight-loss medications. This drug prescribed to you is for treating thyroid problem. You are nearing age of menopause, so periods gradually will stop and no need to worry about this. If you experience any other symptoms like hot flashes, body pain, mood changes etc then approach a gynaecologist for hormone replacement therapy. All the best
